We are the nation?s largest producer of construction aggregates, primarily
crushed stone, sand and gravel. We are also a major producer of asphalt mix and
ready-mixed concrete and a leading producer of cement in Florida.
We estimate that the ten largest aggregates producers account for approximately
30% to 35% of the total U.S. aggregates production. Although the industry
leader, Vulcan?s total U.S. market share is less than 10%. Other publicly traded
companies among the ten largest U.S. aggregates producers include Cemex, CRH,
Heidelberg, Holcim, Lafarge, MDU Resources and Martin Marietta Materials. The
U.S. aggregates industry is highly fragmented with approximately 5,000 companies
