company whose subsidiaries provide financial guarantee products (including
credit derivatives) and provides other financial services to clients in both the
public and private sectors around the world. Ambac was incorporated on April 29,
1991. Ambac?s activities are divided into two business segments: (i) Financial
Guarantee and (ii) Financial Services. Ambac provides financial guarantee
insurance for public and structured finance obligations through its principal
operating subsidiary, Ambac Assurance Corporation. Ambac Assurance is the
successor to the founding financial guarantee insurance company, which wrote the
first bond insurance policy in 1971. As an alternative to financial guarantee
insurance credit protection is provided by Ambac Credit Products, a subsidiary
