There are many websites providing free stock market information and even more websites that have built software to download data from these free sources. Like anything in this world, 'you get what you pay for', and free data just means that you have to do the work to fix it up.

At EODData, we fix the errors for you and take care of the day to day tasks of cleaning the data.

Unfortunately, errors constantly appear in the data released by exchanges and most free sites do not have staff or systems dedicated to correcting these errors. EODData runs a number of computers that scan the data 24x7 to find anomalies and correct the prices that are clearly wrong. We also compare our data against other sources to double check whether we have the right figures. As a final measure we have staff who spend all day finding and correcting data problems.

In addition to solving the various price anomalies, we also take care of splits, symbol changes, mergers, delistings, etc. The small amount that we charge for historical data is very reasonable given the amount of work that has gone into cleaning the data.
